Our Story

Salamanca Skin Care family portrait

February 2007 saw my husband and I arrive in Tasmania with two young girls in tow. Searching for a new beginning and a cooler climate, we quickly immersed ourselves into the peaceful village of Richmond. At the end of our first year on the island we welcomed our third beautiful daughter, completing our family of five.

Having moved from Queensland’s heat and humidity, it was refreshing to embrace each of the four seasons. Everything from the rich tones of the falling autumn leaves, snow covered mountains tops and roaring fireplaces through to the golden daffodils, spring blossoms and the long warm summer days was just perfect. For me personally, it felt like I was home.

As time went on another new adventure unfolded. Not packing up and moving states again, but starting a new business. Embracing the hard work, commitment and dedication our story began. Salamanca Skincare Company officially started trading in 2015 at the iconic Salamanca Market in Hobart with just a small selection of boutique skincare.

Every Saturday is still market day for us where we continue to meet both new and familiar faces. The girls have now grown up, and even overtaken me in height, and they take it in turns to help out at the stall. Our range has also grown, and we now offer not just our luxurious natural and fragranced skincare, but beautiful hand poured soy candles and fragrance diffusers. Hand crafted heat packs filled with Tasmanian lavender and wheat, and aromatherapy pendants and bracelets are also now available. Made in small batches ensuring quality and freshness, every single product we create is packaged with attention to detail ready for you to treasure at home or pass on as the perfect gift.

Being a small family owned business, we choose to work with and support other local artisans, collaborating where we can to bring you a special piece of Tasmania. We choose to supply to just a few boutique stores; you can find our stockists here.

Just 30 minutes from Hobart in Richmond, the quaint little historic village that we are lucky enough to call home, is our purpose built garden studio. When I’m not busily creating, you’ll find me pottering about in our gorgeous garden, usually with Willow our Weimaraner by my side. The nature that surrounds us here is a constant source of inspiration and is reflected in my choice of unique fragrance blends, design and style.

Welcome to our beautiful store...enjoy the journey!
